Monster
There’s a monster in my room
That tells me awful things.
It whispers them in my ear,
So softly that it sings.
It shows me things couldn't see
Standing by the mirror.
It shows me the bad things about myself.
All the things I fear.
Sometimes the monster follows me to school.
And tells me I’m no good.
No one else sees my monster.
I knew they never would.
The monster tries to strangle me,
As I lie awake.
It tells me I’m not good enough.
It tells me that I’m fake.
I told some people about my monster.
I tried to make them see.
I knew they never could.
Because my monster’s me.
