Be the change in the world you wish to see. -Ghandi

Her hair is wavy,
Her teeth are crooked,
Her clothes mismatch,
Her faces are bare,
Her legs are thick,
Her hair is short,

She will not conform.

They say her hair is messy,
They say her clothes are odd,
They say her teeth are like trolls,
They say her skin is horrendous,
They say she looks like a walrus,

They are trying to make her conform.

She put heat to her hair,
She put metal on her teeth,
She got rid of her clothes,
She bought some make-up,
She started starving,

She is conforming.

Her hair is singed,
Her teeth are sore,
Her clothes are too tight,
Her make-up is time-consuming,
Her stomach is aching,

Why is she conforming?

Her hair is curled,
Her teeth are perfect,
Her clothes are expensive,
Her face is caked,
Her legs are like sticks,

She has conformed.

The author's comments:
I was inspired to write this piece because, as teenagers, we always have the pressure from people around us to look different, like everyone else. It causes some people a lot of grief, and I just thought that a poem would be perfect to display the emotionbehind this issue.
