“My candle burns at both ends. It will not last the night, but ah my foes and oh my friends, it gives a lovely light"-Roald Dahl

Slipping
Through my fingers
Like water washed ashore
Unstoppable
Undeniable
Gone are the days of yore

Watching
Her falling
Like the stars fall from the sky
Blinding me
Unsighted, although
I’d lose sight not to watch her die

Waiting
To stop waiting
For death to take her hand
To court her
To take her
Away, to the blood-bathed land

Loathing
All that lives
Stealing her breaths, her time
They survive
She doesn’t
If only I could give her mine

Living
On borrowed seconds
Stealing like honest thieves
Yet in a forest
What need
Does god have for a few, tiny leaves?

Dying
Each day
I wish it were not so prolonged
Why is
Seeing her
Trying so hard, so very wrong?

Rejoicing
Each moment
Each bitter each happy each numbered
Cold fire
Sweet nightmare
Sorrow lasting, happiness encumbered
Suffocating
With words
That we are all thinking but can never say
For hope
Although rousing
Is as dooming as June is to May

Hoping
Against odds
Desperate what-ifs to quench my fear.
Dancing
Wretched minds
Will believe all but the death of this dear

Searching
For black solitude
Knowledge of a heaven I can never enter
Will open
Its doors
Even the devil would be evil’s dissenter

Parting
A happy ending
Sweetness and sorrow together flying
New bud
Blooming today
Tomorrow will be dying

Accepting
Time living
Boy to man, life to death, day to night
Tick, tock
Tock, tick
Waiting for darkness to become light

This is a personal piece I wrote based on true experiences. Losing someone is never easy, but it's agony when you spend every waking moment waiting for it to happen.
