A Snowflake in Spring
It was the first day of spring and we decided to take a bike ride through the town. As we rode I felt a snowflake land on my cheek. It stayed for a moment before melting towards my chin like the tear I dared not shed.
Even though I knew it was a new season, I still felt the frozen fingers of winter pulling at the dangling strings of my borrowed grey hoodie.
Even as the the warmer promise of a newer day was shining in your eyes, mine fogged with the sight of my breath, visible in the chilled air.
And in spite of all the hope I was supposed to feel, it all just felt like a lie.
