How The Time Passes.
Have you ever just had one of those days when you wore a masked smile?
Said so little, and went unnoticed?
Claimed to be really tired, but in all honesty, you were just genuinely sad?
Have you ever had one of those weeks?
One of those months?
It's funny how time passes so quickly, with a notice of leave.
It's ironic that life can just seem to be a lifetime away.
The deep sadness is not sudden as lightning,
but more like the slow roll of distant thunder.
It is a curtain slowly drawn at the end of the final act.
It is a slow fade into a welcoming darkness.
It is sympathetic to how you feel.
It understands you.
Your friend is what it becomes.
It hands your hand,
kisses your forehead,
makes you tea.
It never fails you,
is always with you,
steady as the beating waves.
It's funny how the time has passed.
Everything around you seems like glass,
disconnected
and surreal.
Afraid to leave the darkness,
I fear the rejection that the light has to offer.
Afraid to leave my shell,
I remain in my shadow dwellings.
