The Truth About War
The next great war will be just like all the others,
Death and destruction all around,
Nowhere to go for those caught in the middle.
Wherever you turn your head, death and destruction,
Bloodshed everywhere you look,
Hurt around every corner.
But that isn't what I see when i think of it,
I think of children missing fathers,
Mothers losing their sons.
Many lives ruined from just one life taken,
For a purpose no one remembers,
Toward an end no one sees.
And the girls can send all the "Dear John's" they want,
Because no matter how heartfelt the letters,
Half the boys won't make it home.
