Sweaty Palms
In spare time we sat;
You were so beautiful.
I was just that girl
Who picked at her cuticles.
My palms got sweaty
When you spoke my name,
And my fiddling became greater-
It became a game.
I would see how long it took
For you to look my way,
But shudder at the thought
Of my words going astray.
You could control me with a wink,
Or a simple twitch of your mouth.
I would find myself drooling;
Someone please help me out.
My clumsiness overtook me,
While your chivalry never ceased.
Into your arms I stumbled,
And I finally began to breathe.
So hard we fell,
And so far we’ve come.
I think of what used to be-
Me and my sweaty palms.
