Poisonous Nectar
Do you hear what I hear?
It’s the puppeteer
Whispers her commands
And all of her demands
Yet all of you are deaf to her voice
I wish I had that choice
I live in torment
And I try to repent
But resistance is unavailing
And she laughs at my failing
Her voice is sweet like nectar
Yet her words are as cold as Hannibal Lecter
They sing their way into your head
And leave you feeling awful dread
Her whispers aren’t sweet nothings to one’s ear
But more like daggers stabbing at you injecting fear
Worst of all you can’t run nor hide
Because she is always there inside
Inside your mind
Intertwined
But that’s not her goal
It’s to kill the heart and soul
I’ve tried to resist
But she is a part of me for as long as I exist
So I must do what I have to do to break free
On the count of three…
One
“Don’t do this, think of what you will have done”
Two
“Please don’t, we could start anew!”
Three
“Just think we….”
