long-distance;
I bought a one-way ticket
from Detroit to San Diego
with the tallied punches for
the yellow cars I see every day,
the stash of useless letters
in Words with Friends, and
the eggshells in my ramen
when you cooked for me
that very first time.
I only carried my passport
and the Michigan winter,
because you must have
forgotten how cold it is
over here without you.
