He swept the dust off
His boots and our hearts
As he buried a little piece of
His soul
Into the off-white craters.
It was an act of defiance,
Of mercy,
Of beginnings.
We only saw a monument,
But he had done something
Even greater
In our cobwebbed
Universe.
