I have forgotten
who I am
In a terrible chaos
Of university and growth,
Proving I am worthy,
And wilting from
exhaustion
A crescendo of my future
fading me
into a pale sea
of waves so intense
I cannot swallow
air.
I have failed to remember to go outside
Every morning
And breathe in daybreak’s
First breath
I didn’t keep in mind
How lovely it is to
Exist only in the moment
Of today
The vague recollections
Crawl on their bellies
Back to me
They gently reappear
Until they are tangible
I shed the skin of hereafter
That harasses my youth
In a panicked haste
So I do not lose
Any more beloved hours
Of life
And settle into
my sweet present.

I was hope that this poem can open the eyes of people, before they are swelled shut.
