Let Me Be Me
Let me be me
Please, let me be me
Not what you all want to see
I would not like to be perfect
I just want to be me
Perfection is such a high standard
And you can’t do everything perfectly
But what is perfect?
Is it getting straight A’s
Without even trying
Or having the model like figure
Perfectly curled hair and designer name clothes
Flawless skin, with no blemishes
Having many people look up to you
None of that is me
If I can’t be complete perfection
Then how about normal
Dress and act like everyone else
Wearing Victoria Secret or Abercrombie
Have no creativity and originality
Doing what you know people want to see
That is most defiantly not me
Then what can I be
Just plain old ordinary
But where is the fun in that
Nothing special about you
Blending in and not being seen
After 5 years no one will even remember your name
Why would I want that to be me?
I don’t want to be just anything
No labels, no judging,
No one saying what or who I can be
Being myself and not caring about
What the word thinks of me
Have different colored hair,
Dress out of the ordinary
That is exactly what I want to be
