Sometimes I feel like running barefoot at night
I feel like I can't hold in happiness
I let it out in spurts of giggles
I go up and down the sidewalk
Running
Feeling free
Fear is pushed to the back of my mind
I take in all that's around me
I see all for what it is
I don't get run down but built up
It seems so insignificant
But really
I am learning something deep about life
That only a few people do

The author's comments:
One day a year in the summer, my family on my dad's side comes for a get together. My cousins and I swim until dark, then run up and down the sidewalks and streets while fireworks are going off for the town celebration. I hope you get the innocence and deep life lessons I tried to portray in this poem.

I absoluetly love the rhythm of this poem and the pattern in the syntax.  I feel like describing running as free is a bit of a cliche, though.  Try to come up with another adjective.
