A Game of Love

Her heart, heart - !
broken like a pinata
with candy on the floor and he,
scratching his head and wondering
if perhaps next time they should find a party game
that does not involve a baseball bat
(their shadows
told them that there's no use for games in the first place
but no one listens to their own impression)
so while she cried he just picked up to prepare musical chairs
(and made sure to snatch his favorite butterscotch candy from where it lay on the ground)
then threw the pinata away
