Marks On My Heart
Do you not see the tears in mine eyes
Do you not realize how you've made me cry
Words are sharp you know
they cut like a knife
yet leave a longer lasting blow
Do you not see the pain in my face
the word you speak ready to obliterate
I hear them
I hear them all
The barbs the jabs digging into me
as claws and nails would
They leave their mark
Not on my skin
But on my heart
