I stand under the faint light
waiting
watching you
flail your arms around
and call it "dancing."
I think it's funny,
but my friends think it's weird.
I hope you notice me
try to at least tap my foot to the beat
of Katy Perry
at my school
at the dance
sponsored by the student council.
I know I'm too shy
and I know that you don't like me;
at least, as much as I like you.
My friends say you're just "too shy"
to ask me to dance.
But I know better.
The song ends
and the beat slows
All your friends are dancing with other girls
but you don't know I'm there
waiting
hoping for you
to ask me to dance.

I was in science class when I had this idea for a poem. So... yeah.
