A Box of Thoughts
What if there were a box of thoughts
of things I didn’t tell you
A thought for every day
What if there were a jar of popsicle sticks
that had a color
emotions I didn’t show you
A feeling for every day
What if there were a tea pot of prayers
For you and to you and from you, I prayed
A hope for every day
What if there were a can
of stickers, yellow smilies I never gave you
A smile for every day
I give away as much as I can, as many thoughts, popsicle sticks, prayers, and stickers.
But some moments are too precious to give away
Right now, just yet.
What if there were a box, a jar, a tea pot, a can to save everything?
Alas, my dear Isaac,
There’s not.
