Illness
Illness
I lay in my bed staring up at the ceiling
Sweat poured off me as my back clung to the moist blanket
I had to sit up. My life depended on it.
Come on….push! My body trembled as I fell back down.
I was going to die.
Time went on, hours I think.
Every so often my body would shake.
Rattling every part of me.
Licking my dry shriveled lips, I only tasted bereavement.
There was no way I was leaving this bed.
Every time I moved my body would jolt.
Reminding me of fatal disease.
The door opened.
There was mother, sweet sweet mother.
“Time for school Billy.”
School? In this condition?
Death was upon me.
How could she….?
“You have the hiccups Billy. Get up”
I hate school.
