It was freezing outside and
I was hiding my face between
the folds of my jacket,
anticipating seeing you
for the first time in
a while.
Finally, there weren’t too many
miles lying among us.
I could feel you coming closer
until I was in your arms again.
What a perfect place I
was in as I traced infinity signs
on your skin,
breaking in your continuous sin
(only in your eyes)
while the winter corpses of fire flies
sat dead and nonflying around us.
Your fingers glided between long, golden strands of
my hair and you pulled my hands
to bring me into you, to bring me into
the man my heart has been set on
after such years of distance.
And I told you that I would be
persistent, and
