What I See
Since you're not me
You probably can't see
What my eyes do
Just like I can't see for you
-
I see through my dark eyes
All the deceptions and lies
All the people and their actions
Their display of emotions
-
Sometimes I see good things
I witness happy endings
Two people exchange in bliss
A bear hug and a kiss
-
I love to watch a story unfold
See someone find a hand to hold
See them smile with glee
While I wish it were me
-
Then I turn my head
And see those misled
Tricked into a regretful act
Unable to tell fiction from fact
-
I hate to bare witness
To the cruelty and bitterness
That these people bring about
The distrust, the doubt
-
So I turn around again
To see what happens when
People are actually happy
Just like I want to be
