How awful it must be
To always stand beside
STDs, on a list of reasons
For teenagers to not have sex.
How awful to be
A living reminder
Of your mother’s mistake
And your father’s too.
How awful is it
When people say,
“Wow, what a young mother”
Instead of
“What a cute baby.”
It must feel awful
for people to treat you like
an object,
an example,
a warning,
instead of a child,
a person,
a soul.
