Close The Door
When I closed my eyes as a baby I was dreaming.
When I woke to the morning light the door was opened.
When I closed my eyes as a baby I was dreaming of the stars.
When I woke to the morning light I was five years old, the door was closed.
When I closed my eyes as a 5 year old I was chasing firer flies.
When I woke the door was still opened.
When I closed my eyes as a 5 year old I was dreaming of everything that I could be.
When I opened my eyes I was 15 years old; the door still open.
When I closed my eyes as 15 year old I woke to be a old woman; the door still open.
When I closed my eyes to dream I heard voices call out.
A voice not that I know of
Not a voice of mine at least.
Not a voice not of my mothers.
Not a voice of my fathers.
Nor a voice of my family.
But a voice whispering to close the door tonight.
When I woke…all that I had left was myself so I closed the door that night.
