Is that all I am, a shadow?

An imperfection, a blur

On the edge of your vision?
Is that all I am, a blur?

Something to be ignored,

And later, wiped away?
Is this why you ignore me?

Not important enough

To give a second glance?
Are you the important one,

And I am just your shadow?
Well, I am a shadow.
The shadow of the evening, which stretches out from majestic trees,
longer and more intricate than the trees themselves.
The shadow of the dawn, which rises up from darkness
Just as the sun kisses the earth.
The shadow of noon…invisible, inconspicuous. But I am still there.
When I hide, when I back down, I am still there.
When I cry, when I sleep, I am still there.
When I separate myself from others just to be alone, even then I still exist.
I will rise up from my existence as a shadow
Like the phoenix rises from dirty gray ashes
And you will stand in the presence

Of my glowing light

And sigh in awe.

I am not just a shadow.

I don't know if any of you ever feel like this, and I don't understand it myself, but I think that the poem that came out of that weird, twisted feeling turned out just beautiful.

I love the drama you add to the poem through the spacing you have at the end of it. Great word choices too, that really go well together...like "invisible, inconspicuous". Good use of similes also...overall, nice job!
