"A room without books is like a body without a soul."

- Cicero

Roman author, orator, & politician (106 BC - 43 BC)

I looked at you,
over and over again.

Frosty lips,
ice blue eyes,
winter white hair.

I waited for the sting,
the swell on my cheek,
for the rage that has yet to come.

My brow arched,
my spirit leaped,
my eyes were asking you.

Will it be different this time?
Will you not burden me?

I looked at you,
over and over again.

Your eyes softened,
and you saw that I was hurting.

I couldn’t stop myself right then,
from wishing that things,
were different.

From wishing that things,
were normal.

It was almost as if you heard my
wishes.

Because,
I saw your palm twitch,
And watched your blue eyes harden.

And I knew that I hoped for too much.

The blow was unbearable,
but my love for you was enough,
to keep me from wishing again.
