Just Listen
Can you hear that?
the spring’s first birdsong,
police sirens wailing loud and long.
Shhhhhh....
the rhythmic croaking of a toad,
a truck thunders down the road.
Be quiet for a minute,
the rustle of grasses,
the shooting of masses.
Over there!
the whisper of wind through the trees,
A blaring radio shouts profanities.
Open your ears.
a beehive throbs with activity,
the screams of a horror movie.
It’s all around you,
You can hear nature’s joys,
If you turn down all that noise,
and
Just Listen.
