I'm just sort of here.

Like hopscotch, our game is played

Among shrinking snowdrifts and growing wintergirl dreams

Brothers and sisters give eskimo kisses

And tape notes and letters to the backs of oversized sweaters

Reminding to stay strong, stay silent, stay small

Our blood sugar's skyrocketing

So we intertwine fingers and wedge nails into veins

Picking out chicken bones and donut holes

From breakfast the morning before last

The result, a skeleton key

That fits perfectly in the void between ribs

Unlocking the cage by piercing

The rotting, convulsing heart

To free the frigid fairy children from restrictions

From sizes

From food
