Forgetting
When you said goodbye
you also said
it was best
if i moved on
and just forget about
us
tell me,
is that even possible?
after all that was given
and gained
to just forget
everything?
but that's ok
because I'm not going to.
so while you see me
perfectly happy
its not because I've forgotten
its because I've remembered
remembered
the smell of your shirt
the feel of your arms encircling me
the taste of your lips
the sound of your deep voice
the sight of your crooked grin
I haven't forgotten you
there's nothing in the world
that could make me forget
I've simply wrapped myself
in your memory
and that's where I've sat
waiting for you to come back
and prove to me
how accurate my memory is
because babe,
could you really ever
forget me?
