You and I
You were from the southern country
And I the northern shore
You ran the bases
And I danced across the stage
You worked two jobs to keep gas in the tank
And I picked up the change left for me at the counter
You were in the garage fixing your baby
And I was running from everything
You did not have a care for the future beyond today
And I had my whole world planned out
You were never supposed to be here
And I was never supposed to let it all fall apart
You somehow knew just what to say
And I needed just that
You said to chase my dreams
And I realized they meant nothing without you
You said just to take in every moment
And I said I’d listen just for tonight
You were the king
And I the queen
You changed everything
And I followed your lead
You asked me
And I said yes
