Shut the car door
Jog across the bright grass
Sink my cleats into the dirt
Step into the dugout
Butterflies in my stomach
Readiness in my mind
Stretch out my limbs
Catch the ball
Throw some warm up pitches
Put my glove on hand and hat on head
I’m on the pitcher’s plate
Now I’m ready
Take a deep breath in
Focus on the target
Throw the first pitch
