The pressure is overwhelming
So much is expected from you,
too succeed, to reach the top, to be the best
You're the chosen one
the one they rely on
One mistake
and they throw you down,
push you around,
whip you with their words
Their harsh cries of criticism
drown out your weak words
of encouragement,
leaving you with nothing
but the burden of knowing
you were not what they expected,
knowing that you
did not meet
their expectations
