I wonder
I wonder what it feels like...
To look your victem dead in the eyes,
Knowing, they don't know it was you.
To see the pain in their eyes...
To hear the desperation in their plea...
To know that they think you are their savior.
I wonder how anyone could handle that..
The guilt of watching someone break,
And knowing it was your fault.
You look into their eyes and see them dying.
Their world is falling apart.
They have grown quiet
Their life is fading.
Their joy is gone.
You sit there with them...
And you have the nerve to dry the tears that you caused.
to say to them, "I am your friend"
To tell them you will help them.
I wonder what that feels like...
Does it hurt to know you've done it?
Or is it a rush to know you succeeded?
Is it frightening that someone may know it was you?
Or is it thrilling that no one does?
Do you regret your actions?
Would you do it again?
Are you even sorry?
Whatever that feels like...
She sure seems fine, walking down the halls every day,
She's always smiling and waving at me...
But then again...
She doesn't know that I know.
Not yet.
