Patriot, oh, Patriot
Freedom in unity,
happiness in freedom,
complacency in happiness and;
decadence in complacency.
Patriot, oh, you patriot.
Patriot, oh, patriot.
Can I be a patriot,
if my country does what is wrong?
If the means are horrendous,
can the ends justify them?
For it is all, it is all, contradictory.
Patriot, oh, patriot.
If one lies to save a life,
does the end justify the means?
“People should not be afraid of their governments,
governments should be afraid of their people.”
Can we all, can we all, find acquiescence.
Patriot, oh, patriot!
Would you be a patriot,
if your government forced you to lie?
I certainly hope not,
because, oh, neither could I!
So ironically I say;
Patriot, oh, patriot!
Freedom in unity,
happiness in freedom,
complacency in happiness and;
decadence in complacency.
Patriot, oh, you sorry patriot!
