Mark Strand:
In a field I am the absence of field. This is always the case. Wherever I am, I am what is missing.

So I guess I’m fifty percent crazy.
And fifty percent normal.
Half full, half empty.
Half and half like the milk.

I have bipolar enhancement
or bipolar disorder, I guess.

I’m a little bipolar bear.
Struggling to become well-balanced
like a yin-yang panda bear.

I get grandiose ideas about world peace sometimes.
When I’m in my manic phases,
All I can do is rhyme
and call WW3, WWP
and then I change the P
to peace
and talk about pieces of peace
inside of every peach.

So much alliteration.
my brain brings bundles of blossoming words
because it enjoys the sound of repetition.

Rhymes are just as prime
sublime, lemon-lime, all the time!

This may be difficult for you to read,
but that’s only because it’s difficult for me to think.

I am constantly monologue-ing in my mind
while trying to pay attention to my surroundings.
I get distracted mid thought
and by the time I get back to my original thought,
I’ve already spent thirty seconds
replaying rugby games in my head.
Bear with me, though,
This gets interesting, I panda-swear.

Or don’t bear with me.
