The Flood of Us
The rain is pouring,
hard,
fast.
For the first time today,
I stopped and watched,
watched as the water flooded my surroundings.
It pulling me in deep.
Deeper.
Safe,
in my head,
untouched by the flood.
Rain, rain, go away.
Its not working.
I look in the mirror,
and realize,
its not rain,
its tears.
Tears you brought me.
Of sadness,
hurt,
anger,
but also the salty tears of freedom,
as I drift out in the flood of tears.
