Death
when we lose someone or world is collapsed
we feel empty
we feel dull
depressed
like it's impossible to smile
like we ran out of tears
like we're dead ourselves.
but maybe the way we perceive death is wrong
perhaps our misconception causes more pain than the truth
of course, we don't know the truth.
we define death by the feelings, experiences
of the living
not the deceased
not because we care more about ourselves
we simply don't know the deceased' feelings
experiences
pain
or happiness.
that's part of the frustration that comes with losing someone
not knowing.
worrying
being told they are in a better place
that is fictional consolation
it might be true
it might not be
nonetheless it seems to console
to help heal
to cushion the blow
we aren't honest with ourselves
but we can't always be
we would fall apart under pressure
most people won't admit it
they "never lie"
but honesty is key
but honesty is death
so honesty is overlooked
