It Comes Down To Me
I’m gonna do what I want to do
and do what I need to do.
I’m gonna say what I want to say
and say what I’ve got to say.
I’m gonna try to feel the things I want to feel
and try to ignore the feelings that I don’t want to feel.
My head might end up mixed up and confused
but that won’t stop me from doing what I need to.
You can’t tell me what I should do
or what you want me to.
You can’t tell me what to say
or tell me how to say it.
You can’t tell me how to feel
when it’s you that doesn’t have to feel it.
You can try to make me understand your reasons
but that doesn’t mean I have to listen.
No one can tell me what I need to do
or what they would like me to.
No one can tell me what I should say
and when a good time is to say it.
No one can tell me how I should feel
when they don’t know how it should be.
No one can make me forgive or forget
when it’s my life they’re talking about.
Anyone can tell me why I should do it
only because they have the right to an opinion.
Anyone can tell me why I should say it
but should say nothing more than that.
Anyone can tell me why I should feel it
even if they’re not sure they’re right.
But when everything comes down to it
no one can tell me how to live my life.
