Sacred Slumber
The dream that night
Was a dream to be had
Making it seem as if
Everything was not so bad
But the startled awakening
And the palid, stony moon
Belie the beauty of the heavens
Now, suddenly, I'm stuck in the womb
Reality births my heart, my soul
Hidden within my inner child
And now I'm naked in the dark
The hurt in my eyes growing wild
To escape the truth
I must dive into oblivion
Where the demons harbor
To chance a dream again
Father, grant me
Eternal rest
For I have failed
This gruesome test
I now close my eyes
What's done is done
I lift up my soul
And let sleep come
