Rejection Hurts

I got the letter today
from the college of my dreams
my heart soared with the thought
that they wanted me
me... how could this be? I can't believe
they actually want me
but as i read th ewords
typed in black and white
my heart sinks
and tears cloud my sight
the words say that they are sorry
but I know its a lie
to them I'm just another application cluttering up
their already messy desks
they will find someone else
more worthy of their education
and I will eventually recover
but for now
I feel the pain of rejection's harsh
sting
