"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." - by Theodor Seuss Geisel

Fresh crackers topped with pickled garlic
A stale room
Vermillion and chartreuse leak into cracks in the floorboards
Hiatus of academia taps on the door
Threatens to remove me from the bubble of stoic glee
Last year's obituaries and last week's comics
Hibernate upon the same surface
Weak notes from songwriters without record labels
Warm the icy walls
Tarnished strands from an old brush wisp into the acrylic paint
Add a bit of personality to an old blue dog
Water murks
I step back
Examine my labor
Gaze at my love
My first job as a starving artist

I combined my love of painting and poetry in this piece.

Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, but learning to dance in the rain.

I love your description! This is a wonderful poem!!! at first i sort of skim-read it and i didn't really understand what you were describing, but then i read your quote to the side and reread the poem. The second time, i completely understand wht you are saying and i am amazed. Great job on writing this and getting published! :)
