Picking Raspberries
Pluck the berries off their stems,
Hear them plop into the bucket,
Juicy, sweet, and ripe.
They slide off the stalk with ease,
Plump and dark. Delicious.
It is worth the scratchy branches
To collect the fruity goodness.
The bugs and mosquitoes bite
In the hot summer day,
And the sun blares down on my back,
But these minor setbacks pay off
When you take a mouthful
Of oozing taste,
And feel the sweet juice dribble down your chin.
