It Was Just An Idea; Don't Get All Worked Up.
I am in love with the sea -
The energy in its crash -
The teasing wink of its rush -
Alluring so many sailors, but calling plaintively to the sky
Begging the clouds to come closer.
Its whispering scrape along the sand sweeps its sorrow
And the sky -
Weeping its soft reply
Fingers wave's straps and smiles through its tears
Dropping just a little nearer to seduce the sea.
The sun -
Sinking deep into the distance
Fizzing and sizzling and closing its cyclops eye on the earth.
It rests as a bridge to the heavens -
If only man could sail far enough to find it.
We can sail fast enough, we can fly far enough
We can live on our love for weeks
And I've the books to tell us where to go
Shall we be terrified while we dash through the caves?
A dangerous realm of our wildest imaginings.
You'll hold me tight as I pray to be saved
-please God, we cannot die now-
No one believes us when we say how we're in love
-they question, they question-
Waiting for death in the darkest of nights
With the stars as our only map and our light
We can tramp about on vague foggy days
Sleep in one bed and try to control ourselves
Go out
To try to find our way
And end up lost in France or wherever
Travel and see what's never been seen
Cry like we've never laughed before
Love like we've never lost
lost - ever.
Starting when we run away
Like we've never been here at all --
Breaking hearts along the way...
for a change.

"Oh elope with me in private and we'll sail around the world
I will be your Ferdinand, and you my wayward girl
many nights of talking in hotel rooms can we take
and many nights of limpin' round on pagan holidays
oh elope with me in private, and we'll set something in place
a trail for the devil to erase."
