"Women are brain ninjas!" -Dane Cook

We all load in the car,
Knowing we are going very far.
Said good bye, shed some tears,
Now we are leaving here.
Away from the place I love,
To a new place I’m afraid of.
We start on the road,
With my family and load.
It’s all laughs and chatter,
But my insides begin to tatter.
There goes my house, where memories were made,
All those memories soon will fade.
We pass by my favorite neighborhood,
Where my friends and I played, just ‘cause we could.
I’m leaving my best of friends,
Though we promised to stay that way till the world ends.
I watch as familiar things pass me by,
My eyes burn, I almost cry.
I don’t want to leave,
It’s hardly after New Year’s Eve.
I even miss my school,
Isn’t that cruel?
I want to go back, I feel so blue,
I don’t want to go someplace new.
Now things I’ve never seen,
My siblings play the alphabet name game, my sister shouted “Dean!”
I see the clouds and open ground,
Where many animals could be found.
Halfway there I feel the same,
I know this trip is really lame.
Dad assures me it’ll be great.
Mom says we’ve left, we can’t go back it’s too late.
My sisters laugh and sing with cheer,
My brothers refuse to show any kind of fear.
Even my dog seems happy,
Unlike my family, I just feel plain sappy.
Cloud and cloud pass my car,
As we bump along the tar.
It’s really cold I can’t bear it,
I feel like I’m going to throw a fit.
Twenty more miles, almost there,
I begin to bawl, very rare.
I want to go home,
Back to the woods, where I can roam.
Where all my friends are,
Why did we have to load up in the car?
Fifteen more miles,
My family is all smiles.
I watch the cows as the say their shivered moos,
Please don’t drag me to someplace new.
It’s still cold, really bad,
Can’t I go back to the home I already had?
But wait, what if it isn’t terrible like I think,
My tears stop the rest stay behind my blinks.
What if there are woods here?
If there are, I won’t show any fear.
I might make new friends,
That’ll stay with me till the world ends.
Maybe my home will be great,
Maybe this isn’t bad fate.
Ten miles to go, closer still,
No longer am I here against my will.
Now I join in the joyful songs,
Something every kid longs.
Five more miles, can’t be beat.
I join my siblings and jump in my seat.
I watch as we passed a lake,
Then I join my sister for some pat-a-cake.
We’re here at last,
Kansas City’s officially in the past.
What a pretty place to restart and renew,
Oregon is this someplace new.
