Hide and Seek

Hunkered down behind a towering giant,
its arms leafy and strong,
Closing my eyes and holding my breath,
but not too long.
Focusing on the quiet,
trying not to make a sound,
shuffling lightly,
on the neverending dirt ground.
7,8,9,10
Here they come!
The impatience sets in.
They creep around every corner,
peering into every hidden shadow.
Until they hear my unsteady breathing,
my worry-filled giggle,
and I am exposed.
My turn to be it.
Hide-and-Seek.
