Cherries and Gasoline
Poems
At the gas station.
By the pump,
Daddy’s leaning on the blue car
His ankles crossed, filling the little circle
With gasoline.
Burning and noisy, that gasoline
Grabbing at my throat!
But I drink it down
With the taste of poems-
They taste like cherry juice
And limes.
Poems so sweet and delicious
Poetry at the gas station.
