I march these hollow steps
Among many broken men
Whose pale, skeletal faces
Bear a haunted expression
That eliminated joy from their lives
Their spirits are dead
A damp candle in a dark cave
I would give anything
To be in that cave right now
Away from this camp
And the cruel iron fist
Of a demanding SS officer
I wish to escape
Of this air,
Toxic with the essence of death
To be gone
To be free
A spirit dancing
With the winds of life
