Grandmother Dearest
As my grandmother sleeps words of
hope and encouragement flow from her mouth.
As she sleeps her hair tangles into nests and her children climb into them.
As she sleeps her jagged and unkept fingernails shine as a sign of the work she has done for all of us.
As she sleeps you can hear her jokes and laughter from her heart coming out through her ears.
As my Grandmother sleeps we gather around and thank God for a women that none of us deserve.
