Those who reach for the stars should never forget the flowers that bloom at their feet.

I sit on the sidewalk with my head down low,
My bags all wet and my shoes all torn.
As I sip on my coffee shivering in the cold
I remember...
The bookshelf is still broken after countless efforts of fixing
The remote is lost as always
There is never milk left for breakfast,
And no one can every find a spoon
My mother is reading her magazine as always
My father is cooking away,
My sister is watching TV with her ears lifted high,
My brother is crying away.
What's left of me, where am I?
I ask myself what I'm doing because I can’t seem to find an answer.
I left the most important thing to me for something that was never there
I lost the most important thing to me for my own heart being naive.
I drop my bags on the doorsteps, as I take off my hat.
I unclench my fists and swallow my pride.
With my heart pounding I ring the doorbell.
As it opens I look up, I drop down crying,
For the thing that's broken me has made me
I'm finally home.
