Tracks
The road is bright ahead,
Encouraging you to move forward
As you travel on your way.
Yet,
No matter how warm the words are,
The snow is still icy
Under your feet.
Everywhere you go,
You leave tracks behind you
Like a moment
That has nowhere else to go
But follow you.
Looking back
Doesn’t do you any good.
It just makes you linger
Towards the warm house.
Yet, the thought that
Something dazzling is ahead of you—
Makes you keep walking.
Take solace in the fact
That no matter how deep
Your footprints are,
The wind will carry them away,
Like the snow
That binds your feet to the earth.
Yet, as you carry your memories with you,
The ground underneath the snow
Leaves a permanent imprint
On the world.
