"Never bend your head. Hold it high. Look the world straight in the eye."
Helen Keller

Every morning I lie there sleeping,
When my peace is destroyed by a god-awful beeping.
My dreams shattered, sudden and drastic,
By this evil, awful, red-eyed chunk of plastic.

I roll over in pain and hammer on the snooze,
Grumbling, groaning, thinking 'Why must this thing torture me so?'
'Don't make me get up, just five minutes more!'
The same thing I've said every morning before.

It's not that I'm not a morning person, or that I dread the coming day,
It's just that I hate waking up in this way!
I'd much rather rise up along with the light,
Shining through the window, glowing, beaming, bright.

But the sudden screaming, the unbearable fuss,
Makes me want to scream, cry, and even begin to cuss!
Especially the knowledge that all of my sorrow
Will be repeated the same time, same way, tomorrow.

I think we can all relate to feeling this way. I got the inspiration to write this from reading a previous poem about the horrors of the alarm clock! =) I hope you enjoy my Ode to the Alarm Clock!

This was really good. I can relate to this too because everyday my alarm goes off and I hit the snooze button so I don't have to get up. Good work.

This poem really captures the distickt anoyence of the shrill beeping of an alarm clock. Needing to be up every day befor the sun is absurd if you ask me.

This poem describes my everyday thoughts and feelings of waking up to an alarm clock! Very relatable and without dragging on forever it captures the true annoyance, yet necessity of having one.

This example really uses good onomatopoeia, but lacks the detail and structure of the Ode to Silence. It still makes you think about what some people may take for granted (or hate in this case!) My favorite line is about the chunk of plastic...

I absolutely adore this poem. It was so well written and I could feel the anger in your voice. I'm glad you get up every morning with the stupid alarm clock because this was great! But, I hope tomorrow morning is better (:

Wind
The wind blows my hair and blows mind
The wind so soft so fluffy takes its time
It touchs the the grass so smooth and fine
The wind pushes it self through everything
To keep this wind going strong
You must sing a beatuiful song
The wind blows my hair and my mind
You can feel the beatiful wind even if you`r blind

I feel the same way every morning my alarm goes off for school and i never want to get up so i can relate to this poem a lot!

It seems to me that alarm clocks should have NEVER been invented. Its the most annoying sound, unless i wake up to music which is totally better, man, totally.
