&quot;Never bend your head. Hold it high. Look the world straight in the eye.&quot;<br /> Helen Keller

Every morning I lie there sleeping,
When my peace is destroyed by a god-awful beeping.
My dreams shattered, sudden and drastic,
By this evil, awful, red-eyed chunk of plastic.

I roll over in pain and hammer on the snooze,
Grumbling, groaning, thinking 'Why must this thing torture me so?'
'Don't make me get up, just five minutes more!'
The same thing I've said every morning before.

It's not that I'm not a morning person, or that I dread the coming day,
It's just that I hate waking up in this way!
I'd much rather rise up along with the light,
Shining through the window, glowing, beaming, bright.

But the sudden screaming, the unbearable fuss,
Makes me want to scream, cry, and even begin to cuss!
Especially the knowledge that all of my sorrow
Will be repeated the same time, same way, tomorrow.

I think we can all relate to feeling this way. I got the inspiration to write this from reading a previous poem about the horrors of the alarm clock! =) I hope you enjoy my Ode to the Alarm Clock!

Teacher inspire, but only you can show it.

This is a great poem. It spoke to me, in a way that the alarm clock speaks to us in the mourning. It just speaks out and slaps you across the face.

ODE TO THE ALARM CLOCK? OK, IT WAS AN ALRIGHT POEM BUT I HATE WAKING UP :)

This ode is truethfull. I think that everyone knows how it feels to be woken up by a "red-eyed piece of plastic". But no one ever says or expresses how they fell about it. Good poem!

This poem can relate to me and so many others. It describes how it feels to get up in the morning, with lots of detail. :)

i think that this poem is very true and that nobody really wants to wake up to an annoying beeping in the morning and would rather wake up with the sun when they physically want to.
